Sound Tests

Office accommodation, be it new or refurbished, often comes with decisively set criteria for external noise break-in levels, mechanical services noise, and privacy.

Office accommodation, be it new or refurbished, often comes with decisively set criteria for external noise break-in levels, mechanical services noise, and privacy.

Modern open plan offices, including office-like environments such as banks, counsel rooms and courtrooms often require an open plan ambience, while retaining reasonable levels of speech privacy between specific areas.

There is also the obvious requirement for reliable speech privacy between cellular offices, and isolation from noisier areas such as lifts, stairs and corridors.

JCW Office Soundproofing offers a full range of UKAS or ANC accredited services including the following:

  • Site surveys
  • Shell design for external noise break-in.
  • Internal sound transfer between various room usages.
  • Internal acoustics.
  • Mechanical services noise.
  • Design team meetings and inspections.
  • Testing.

We cover all aspects of the design and trouble-shooting in buildings of all types. Our experience has been gained across every type of accommodation and construction including schools, hospitals, offices, theatres, cinemas, nightclubs, studios, retail and hotels.

We are also able to input advice around the various BREEAM criteria which increasingly influence public buildings, offices, schools, colleges, health centres, hospitals, courts and prisons and the environmental impacts of their construction and operation.

Whilst most of our client involvement on office soundproofing will be on a retro-fit or recovery basis, we can get involved at planning stage to provide the following services:

  • Site surveys in accordance with appropriate standards such as PPG 24, BS4142, and many more.
  • Preparation of reports, including detailed specification and design of mitigation and noise control.
  • Negotiation.
  • Proof of Evidence writing.
  • Attendance at council meetings and public enquiries.
  • Negotiated settlements, meetings of experts, conditions.
