Welcome to JCW Group News

Welcome to the First JCW Group Digital Newsletter

Welcome to the first edition of the JCW Group digital newsletter.

The newsletter has been created to keep customers, colleagues and supplier partners informed about developments taking place across the group.

Over the years, the business has expanded considerably from its original floor screeding operation. With several specialist divisions now serving different parts of the construction and acoustic markets, this is an ideal opportunity to share company news, product developments and important milestones in one regular update.

From Floor Screeding to a Wider Group of Companies

The company was founded in 1993 as John C Wilkins Floor Screeding.

Floor screeding remains an important part of the group’s history and provided the practical construction experience from which several other areas of the business developed.

Since then, operations have expanded to include separate divisions specialising in acoustic flooring and acoustic supplies.

This growth has allowed the group to support a wider range of construction projects, from floor preparation and screeding to systems designed to reduce airborne and impact noise between different parts of a building.

The Development of Acoustic Flooring

The Acoustic Flooring division developed from the company’s experience of working with floor constructions and related building materials.

Acoustic floors may need to reduce impact noise caused by footsteps and furniture movement, airborne noise such as voices and televisions, or a combination of both.

Working with acoustic decking, resilient battens and other specialist flooring materials allowed the business to combine practical installation knowledge with an understanding of the wider floor build-up.

This meant contractors and quantity surveyors could coordinate floor screeding and acoustic flooring through the same group, helping to simplify project planning and communication.

The Growth of JCW Acoustic Supplies

The group’s experience of installing acoustic flooring systems also contributed to the development of JCW Acoustic Supplies.

After working with products supplied by other manufacturers, the business began developing and supplying its own acoustic materials.

The product range expanded beyond floors to include soundproofing and sound absorption solutions for walls, ceilings and other areas of domestic and commercial buildings.

JCW Acoustic Supplies now supports customers including builders, contractors, merchants, developers, architects, homeowners and commercial organisations.

The division supplies products for applications such as:

  • Acoustic flooring systems
  • Party-wall soundproofing
  • Ceiling soundproofing
  • Sound absorption and reverberation control
  • Offices and meeting rooms
  • Studios and entertainment spaces
  • Domestic soundproofing projects

The Launch of JCW Specialist Supplies

During the previous year, the group also launched JCW Specialist Supplies.

This new division focused on the sourcing, manufacture and bulk supply of specialist building products, materials, components and accessories.

Its creation reflected the group’s wider experience in manufacturing, purchasing, warehousing and distribution.

By developing relationships with manufacturers and suppliers, the division aimed to support merchants, distributors, contractors and other trade customers requiring specialist construction products in larger quantities.

The launch of JCW Specialist Supplies added another distinct area of activity to the business and contributed to the need for a clearer group structure.

A New Corporate Identity

As the business expanded, the time had come for the company’s visual identity to reflect the different services and specialist divisions operating within the JCW Group.

The new corporate identity was developed to create a more consistent appearance across the group while allowing each trading division to retain its own area of expertise.

The rebrand represented more than a change of name or logo. It reflected how the company had developed from a floor screeding contractor into a wider group serving several parts of the construction and acoustic industries.

This first newsletter provides an opportunity to introduce that identity and explain how the individual divisions fit within the broader JCW Group.

Reaching £12 Million in Group Turnover

In the financial year ending April 2012, the combined turnover of the JCW Group reached £12 million.

This milestone reflected the development of the original floor screeding business, the growth of the Acoustic Flooring and Acoustic Supplies divisions and the group’s continued investment in its operations.

The figure also demonstrated how far the company had progressed since its foundation in 1993.

That growth was supported by continued investment in:

  • Employees and specialist knowledge
  • Product development
  • Manufacturing capabilities
  • Warehousing and stockholding
  • Sales and customer support
  • Distribution and logistics

Responding to a Challenging Construction Market

At the time of this first newsletter, the building and construction sector was facing difficult trading conditions.

Despite those challenges, the group remained confident that the investment made during its first two decades would provide a strong foundation for the future.

Developing several specialist divisions also allowed JCW Group to serve a broader customer base rather than relying on one area of the construction market.

The knowledge, assets and supplier relationships built up across the business placed the group in a stronger position to respond to changes in demand and identify new opportunities.

Looking Ahead to Our Twentieth Year

In 2013, JCW Group would celebrate twenty years in business.

Reaching this anniversary represented an important milestone for a company that began as John C Wilkins Floor Screeding in 1993.

During those two decades, the business expanded its services, developed new products, established additional divisions and increased its ability to support customers across the UK.

The twentieth year would provide an opportunity to look back at that progress while continuing to invest in the future of the group.

Keeping Customers and Partners Informed

The JCW Group digital newsletter was launched to provide regular updates from across the business.

Future editions would include news relating to:

  • Company and divisional developments
  • New acoustic and construction products
  • Manufacturing and warehousing
  • Completed projects
  • Technical information
  • Staff and business milestones

It would also provide a way to keep customers and supplier partners informed as the group continued to develop.

Thank You for Reading

We hope readers enjoy this first update and find the introduction to the new JCW Group identity useful.

The launch of the newsletter marks another stage in the development of a business that has grown significantly since 1993.

With its twentieth anniversary approaching, JCW Group remains committed to building on the experience, specialist knowledge and customer relationships developed during its first two decades.
